Our Spring 2022 Intern

The C+MRC welcomes Liv Grasso as our student intern for the Spring 2022 semester. Olivia (Liv) Grasso is a senior undergraduate student at Montclair State University in New Jersey. After earning her Associate of Arts degree in Communications from Union County College, Liv is now working towards a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and Media Arts in the School of Communication and Media. Liv is currently interning for the C+MRC as a blogger.

Navigating Media Literacy through the Realms of Disneyland

In August 2020 our own C+MRC Director, Dr. Vanessa E. Greenwood, released her 3rd book, Navigating Media Literacy: A Pedagogical Tour of Disneyland (Myers Education Press). Our intern interviewed her about what makes this book different from all the other books about Disney and why everyone outside (as well as inside) the Academy should read it. Oculus Rift as Allegory: Reimagining Post-Pandemic Schooling in the United States

The impact of virtual schooling en masse will not be felt until we leave it. Like virtual reality we will not be able to truly understand learning during the pandemic until we exit our educational lockdown and return to the brick-and-mortar classroom. But it remains to be seen if and when we will ever fully return. In this media literacy thought-piece, Dr. Vanessa E. Greenwood contemplates the Oculus Rift as an allegory for reimagining post-pandemic schooling in the United States.
