To commemorate the 3rd Annual National Media Literacy Week (Nov 6-10) the School of Communication and Media at Montclair State University hosted a screening of Joni Siani’s documentary film Celling Your Soul (Bullfrog Films).
The film takes viewers on a personal journey with a group of high school and college students who (through a digital “cleanse”) discover the power of authentic human connectivity. Does there exist an app or piece of technology that can replace the benefits of human connection?
The powerful and informative screening took place in the new SCM presentation hall full of undergraduate students. Dr. Vanessa Domine (Communication and Media Arts) moderated and the panelists included Dr. Jazmin Reyes-Portillo (Psychology), and Dr. Todd Kelshaw (Communication Studies).
The discussion addressed our (dis)connections in the digital world and our love/hate relationship with technology. You can obtain the film through Bullfrog Films.
